In the context of today's intense and complex debate surrounding the future development of liquid biofuels - the principal objective of Bioenergy World Americas 2008 is to offer a platform for considering, debating and helping define the path that can lead to sustainable biofuels.
The Bioenergy World Americas 2008 Conference Programme is now online and Delegate Registration is open!
Some of the Key Speakers who have an intimate and daily working knowledge of the issues involved, include :
Ralph Simms, Senior Analyst, Renewable Energy and Climate Change, IEA, France Will Thurmond, Emerging Markets Online, President, USA Jose Moreira, CENBIO, President, Brazil Jean-Philippe Denruyter, WWF, Global Bioenergy Coordinator, Belgium Geraldo Stachetti Rodrigues, Empraba Labex Europe, France/Brazil Dr.Ganapathy Arumugam, Enhanced Biofuels and Technologies, India
Much progress has been made at an institutional level to propose and establish verifiable criteria for sustainability whilst several initiatives at an industry and grass roots level demonstrate different aspects of sustainability in practise ... but considerably more still needs to happen to provide a transparent and comprehensive framework in which supply chains can assure the movement of significant volumes of sustainable biofuels along the chain of custody both in domestic and international markets.
The Conference Programme progresses from the broad, international debate on sustainability and current key actions on the international stage to local/regional action plans and suitable feed-stock options for producing biofuels to the exacting criteria that qualify for the sustainable label.
The Bioenergy World Americas 2008 platform seeks to provide an opportunity for deeper consultation between policy makers who aim to define the guidelines, the rules and the incentives for sustainable biofuels production and industry players and investors who take up the challenge, assuming the responsibility to understand and assure their realisation in practise.
The event is staged in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil - Bahia being an important Brazilian state offering considerable promise for the development of sustainable biofuels utilising marginal and semi-arid land where family agriculture and co-operative farming has the potential on aggregate to produce significant volumes of feedstock whilst complimenting and supporting the food production chain.
Bioenergy World Americas 2008 promises to be the Forum which will untangle the information from the misinformation and will serve to help industry players, investors, environmentalists, agriculture and other stakeholders to map out the sustainable course.
Delegates will be encouraged to debate the issues as well as to propose their own approaches and strategies for creating both sustainable feedstock supply chains and integrated sustainable bioenergy production processes .
Bioenergy World Americas 2008 follows the highly-successful 2006 first edition - an international conference attended by 350 delegates from 20 countries.
Bioenergy World Americas 2008 encompasses:
Conference and Expo 16-17 Sept
Study tours 18-20 Sept
